Anstey’s cove is a small tucked away little cove with steep rocky sides giving it a perfectly secluded beach. Wooded hillside and coastal walks through to Hopes Nose along the cliff top give impressive views across the bay. The surrounding area is a wildlife reserve and the beach itself is managed by the Torbay Coast and Countryside Trust.
This is also a good beach for fishing being fairly quiet; there are however toilets and refreshment facilities as well as deck chair hire, chalet hire and a beach shop. Dogs are not allowed and disabled access is limited.
Anstey’s cove is only a short walk from Torquay which is becoming one of the culinary hotspots of the Devon coastline, boasting two Michelin starred restaurants – the Elephant and Orestone Manor. Torquay itself has been one of the top holiday destinations since the Victorians gently promenaded and bathing huts were wheeled down to the beach. Escaping from the hustle and bustle and taking in the tranquility of Anstey’s cove is a perfect source of relaxation.
