Idless Woods is a sheltered and tranquil stretch of woodland running along the side of the valley down to the river Allen.
In such a peaceful setting and depending on the time of year, you are likely to catch sight of red or roe deer, otters and badgers as it is a haven for wildlife even though it is close to Truro. The woods are looked after by the Forestry Commission and there are well made forest tracks to follow.
If you are interested in fungi – Idless Woods is teeming with the stuff and by joining the Forestry Commission you can go along on one of their fungi forays followed by a hot drink in the picnic area and a discussion about your finds !

How to get there is easy, from Truro follow the signs to the village of Idless. Continue through the village for a further mile. The entrance to the wood is on the right hand side.
