Burrow Farm Gardens

  • Beautiful 10 acre garden
  • Plant sales
  • Cream teas

This beautiful 10 acre garden has been lovingly created from farmland over the last 40 years by Mary Benger. It includes a fascinating woodland garden created in an ancient Roman clay pit which has moisture loving plants and wild flowers, and the most recent addition is the millennium rill garden. The millennium garden features ponds, waterfalls and the formal rill, which leads the eye to the magnificent valley and hills beyond, with mixed borders creating wonderful colour combinations. The woodland garden also has superb rhododendrons and azaleas and is at its best in the spring. Elsewhere in the garden the pergola walk, which has old roses and herbaceous plants, is delightful later in the year. At Burrow Farm there’s a garden to suit all tastes, a bog garden - a miniature jungle of Skunk Cabbage, Gunnera and Ferns - cottage and terrace style gardens - very in keeping with the gentle rolling hills of the Devon countryside. Open from Easter to the end of October each year you will find ample parking, picnic areas, homemade cream teas and light refreshments. Visit the nursery for an interesting selection of plants and find Mary Benger at hand to give advice if required. A recent addition is the new craft shop where many interesting items and gifts can be found.
