Mount Edgecombe House is set within Grade I Cornish Gardens and 865 acres of country parkland on the Rame Peninsula, South East Cornwall. Today it is owned by Cornwall County and Plymouth City Council.
Mount Edgcumbe Country Park was the earliest landscaped park in Cornwall. Today it is made up of Grade I listed gardens and 55 Grade II and II* listed structures. Scattered throughout the Park are a variety of buildings - Thomson´s Seat, Milton´s Template, the Folly, the Arch - consciously sited to create views and atmosphere. Individual trees and plantations are placed to enhance a magnificent setting above Plymouth Sound and the River Tamar. Woodlands contain specimen trees such as Californian Redwood and Stone pines, and provide shelter for the herd of wild fallow deer. The Coastal footpath runs along the shores of the Park from Cremyll to Whitsand Bay. Grassy lawns sweep down to attractive shingle beaches only a stroll away from the Cremyll Ferry.
There is now a new way to explore the park – a multi-use trail suitable for walkers, cyclists, horse-riders, wheelchair users and buggies – whatever the weather! Details of events, opening times and parking can be found on the website. There is a restaurant and café located just within the formal gardens and disabled access and parking facilities are also available.
