Killerton is a huge estate of over 6,000 acres. It includes a Georgian country house, superb garden, 1,000 acres of woodland and much of the villages of Broadclyst and Budlake. Killerton house has a notably relaxed, welcoming and informal atmosphere. Visitors are often heard to remark that they could imagine living here: it feels so much like a real home. The house was built in 1778 for the Aclands, one of the oldest families in Devon, and you will find much here to bring generations of fascinating and dynamic Aclands to life. On the first floor, the Paulise de Bush collection of 18th- to 20th-century costume is displayed, The dining room, drawing room and the upstairs of the house are now used to display the Paulise de Bush collection of 18th to 20th century costumes. Here high-necked, full skirted Victorian gowns contrast with the flimsy chiffon evening gowns of the 1930s. Killerton house is beautifully positioned on the flanks of a hill, surrounded by its glorious garden and overlooking parkland. It also has an extensive agricultural and wooded estate. There are numerous waymarked circular walks, through a variety of habitats and landscapes. The garden is the great glory of Killerton. It was created in the 1770s by renowned nurseryman and landscape designer John Veitch, and features an abundance of rhododendrons, magnolias, herbaceous borders and rare trees, as well as an ice house and a rustic summerhouse (known as The Bear´s Hut). There is a discovery centre near the stable courtyard and a packed programme of activities and events to enjoy all year round.

There is a licensed restaurant in house. Restaurant can be booked for special functions. Orchard tea-room (licensed) in stable block. Locally produced home-made food. Children´s menu Dogs on leads and only in park. Quality plants grown on the property in peat-free compost
