Built in 1989 Bridge Bike Hire was the first purpose built cycle hire shop in the country incorporating personal accommodation. Cycle hire is an excellent form of leisure activity and a great way to explore some of the Cornwall’s most beautiful areas.
With a stock of over 400 bikes the choice is yours from super comfort cruisers to serious lightweight touring bikes. They also stock a range of special needs cycles and they compliment this with facilities that include a nearby car park (where they will refund £1.50 of your parking charge),on site toilet and a delivery and pick up service for up to 30 bikes.
Choose from mountain bikes, tandems, adult trikes, add on trailers, childrens bikes and buggies. Once you’ve chosen your bike with help of the friendly team at Bridge Bike Hire you are ready to do the Camel Trail.
The Camel Trail is an 18 mile largely traffic free cycleway which passes through some of the most spectacular countryside in the south west. Following the disused railway line once used by the London and South West Railway, cyclists hug the Camel Estuary from Padstow to Wadebridge before joining the route through the deeply incised and beautifully wooded Camel Valley to Bodmin. At Bodmin yet another line, one of the most historic in the country, winds its way inland to the foot of Bodmin Moor where it comes to an end near Blisland, an extraordinarily pretty moorland village. The Trail was extended by about 3/4 mile last year and now finishes at Wenford Bridge
Bridge Bike Hire is located at the start of the Padstow section, The trail provides access in to the heart of North Cornwall; experienced cyclists can make off, away from the trail exploring the many villages and country lanes which lie close to the trail.
They are open 9-5pm 7 days a week all year round.
