Hense Moor is situated on the lower areas of the opposite side of the valley from Hartridge Common, on the northern side of Honiton in Devon.
Hense Moor includes some of the best remaining examples of lowland mixed valley bog in Devon, and is typical of this habitat in South Western Britain. If you are a nature lover and rambler you will be in your element here – wild heathland grasses, rushes, bracken and a large variety of wildlife abound.
This area is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) by English Nature which means that it is protected from building and any changes that will harm its natural beauty.

For some of us it may be hard to look across these landscapes and truly appreciate their historical value and the fact that here remains many varieties of animal and plant life that have been destroyed elsewhere by farming and building and can now never be replaced....
